International Skills Project

International Skills Partnership Progress Report - Northern Regional College and Sekhukhune TVET College

Sekhukhune TVET College has secured partnership with Northern Regional College in the UK and is funded by the British Council to engage in an International Skills Project (ISP). The aim of the project is to increase skills in Carpentry and Joinery. College staff, supported by local companies and Industry Representative Bodies (UK and SA) will benchmark skills and develop a common international skills task for students to complete. Through this ISP we seek to achieve two outcomes:

  • Exchange local Carpentry and Joinery skills competitions between Sekhukhune TVET College and Northern Regional College
  • Provide opportunities for students/apprentices to compete internationally at local level

Employability will be enhanced as students/apprentices also develop communication, teambuilding, problem solving, and critical thinking skills.  Lecturing staff will benefit personally and professionally through their exposure to their subject within an international context.
